Birding Basics is a beginner-level birding program for adult women (18+) interested in learning how to identify Georgia birds. Former Georgia DNR ornithologist Bob Sargent will lead this full-day field class on the coast. Bob will introduce you to essential bird identification techniques while exploring maritime forests, ponds, marshes, and beaches of Jekyll Island, St. Simons Island, Altamaha Waterfowl Management Area, and other renowned birding destinations near Brunswick and Darien.

Lunch will not be provided. Please come prepared to be outdoors and dressed in hiking attire. Participants should bring a lunch, hat, sunblock, food, water, binoculars, and a bird identification guide. A limited number of binoculars will be available to borrow upon request.
