This specialty hunt is designed for first time deer hunters with mobility issues who find walking through the woods a challenge. Using Action Trackchairs (ATC), participants will be better able to navigate the woods and make their way to a blind. Action Trackchairs are all-terrain wheelchairs with rubber tracks that can travel over a variety of obstacles. The chairs are being made available through a partnership with All-Terrain Georgia (ATG). The program includes an overview of the ATCs, shooting range with an ATC, and 2 hunting sessions with hunting guides. This hunt will take place on private land in Newton County.
The application period will be open until December15th. Six candidates and six alternates will be selected out of the total number of those who applied. Selected participants will be notified by December 18th and payment is due at that time.
A Georgia Hunting License, Big Game license and Harvest Record are required. Licenses can be purchased online at www.gooutdoorsgeorgia.com. Hunters must be accompanied by a buddy and both hunter and buddy must complete the All-Terrain GA certification training at https://www.allterraingeorgia.org/certification prior to the hunt.
The cost of the program is $85 and covers for both the hunter and their buddy. Meals (lunch, dinner and lunch) will be provided at the hunting site. Lodging options are available at local hotels in Covington, GA.
The program will begin at 11:00 am on the 9th and run until 1:00 pm on the 10th.
